Registration is open from October 1st through December 2nd. Beech Mountain Academy is an inclusive team for young athletes who are passionate about ski racing, free skiing, and snowboarding. Supported by the non-profit BMSEF, the Academy thrives thanks to the dedication of families and parents. Without their support, these programs would not be possible.

Please note, this program is not for beginners. Lockers are available to rent in the Team Room, with access during practice hours unless otherwise approved by a coach.

All parents are expected to fulfill a volunteer commitment to support the Academy. This may include assisting as a team room parent, helping coaches, or volunteering at HCJRS races held at Beech Mountain Resort, both on and off the snow. Your involvement ensures smooth operations and full support for our athletes, and it plays a key role in the success of the Academy.

Beech Mountain Academy provides development tailored to each athlete’s discipline, whether ski racing, free skiing, or snowboarding. The program fosters goal setting, discipline, sportsmanship, work ethic, and determination, ensuring athletes have fun while growing their skills. Each athlete progresses through development phases, preparing for competition at all levels.

Alpine Ski Racing Phases
Phase 2: Parallel turns on green terrain, working on more advanced slopes. Comfortable riding lifts alone.
Phase 3: Parallel on all terrain, working on carving.
Phase 4: Carving on all slopes, working on clearing slalom gates.
Phase 5: Aggressive line carving and clearing slalom gates.

Freestyle Snowboard Phases
Phase 2: Linking turns on green/blue terrain, hitting small features/jumps.
Phase 3: Comfortable on all terrain, carving, hitting small-medium features.
Phase 4: Carving, hitting medium features, performing basic tricks (grabs, 180s).
Phase 5: Hitting large features, doing 360s and intermediate tricks.
Phase 6: Advanced/inverted tricks on any feature.

Freeski Phases
Phase 2: Parallel turns on green terrain, hitting small jumps/features.
Phase 3: Parallel on all terrain, working on carved turns, small-medium jumps.
Phase 4: Carving turns, medium features, performing grabs/180s.
Phase 5: Hitting large features, performing 360s and advanced tricks.
Phase 6: Advanced/inverted tricks on any feature.

Snowboard Racing Phases
Phase 2: Linking turns on green/blue terrain.
Phase 3: Comfortable on all terrain, working on carving.
Phase 4: Carving on all terrain, familiar with snowboard racing.
Phase 5: Competitive snowboard racing, understanding of race lines.
